I believe that supportive, collaborative supervision is essential to professional growth and effective clinical practice. As a clinical supervisor, I strive to create a learning environment that balances challenge with support, helping trainees strengthen their clinical skills, professional identities, and capacity for self-reflection. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, developmental models of supervision, and a commitment to cultural humility.
Prior to joining a group practice, Peninsula Behavioral Health, where I work with couples, families, and individuals, I served as a staff psychologist in the VA’s Couple and Family Therapy Program. I have supervised psychology, psychiatry, and social work trainees, as well as pre- and post-licensure clinicians, and I am especially passionate about supporting the development of couple and family therapists. In addition to my clinical and supervisory work, I have authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications on romantic relationships, relational well-being, and access to care.
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed both my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral training at the San Francisco VA Healthcare System. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and board certified in Couple and Family Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
