Our relationships can get stuck in negative cycles that perpetuate hurt, misunderstanding, and disconnection. It can feel like tension that simmers until it boils into an argument. Or maybe a numbing frost that slowly collects, forming ice that bites to the touch.
In EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), we will work together to identify negative relational cycles, slow them down, and take a closer look. We may encounter old protective strategies that have helped you to stay safe in the past, but aren’t serving your relationship. We may discover deep-rooted fears that get triggered and reactive, and deserve some attention and healing. The work of bringing awareness to the deeper emotions and needs beneath the surface often shows us how a negative cycle is actually driven by a shared longing for connection. From a place of greater clarity and honesty, you can support each other in cultivating ways of relating that honor yourselves, each other, and your relationship.
As a client, this has been some of the most meaningful, transformative work I have ever done- the benefits of which I’ve felt in beautiful, surprising ways, across different parts of my life. As a therapist, I value transparency, creativity, and humor in the therapeutic process, and my style is engaged, and collaborative. I am drawn to EFT’s well-researched and effective structure, and it is a privilege to create a safe space with my clients for healing to happen.
