I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a passion for helping couples rebuild connection, trust, and emotional intimacy. I’m trained in the modality of emotionally focused couples therapy
(EFT), which guides couples through the process of understanding and transforming the emotional patterns that underlie conflict and disconnection. EFT is an evidence-based practice
that is grounded in the science of attachment and supported by over 30 years of research. I first became interested in couples therapy following my own divorce, where I found myself reflecting
on the many ways, both maladaptive and adaptive, that a couple can navigate disconnection during times of conflict. With a dedication to working with evidence-based practices, I soon
discovered EFT. Out of the many couples therapy modalities in the field, I have found EFT to be the most adept at getting to the core of the issue and facilitating repair, whether a couple is
navigating communication breakdowns, the aftermath of betrayal, chronic conflict, or emotional distance.
Outside of couples work, I practice as a clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. My practice integrates brain-based, goal-oriented treatment modalities that
incorporates cognitive neuroscience and cutting-edge research into the study of neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to physically change shape in response to repeated experience and
behavior. The approach of utilizing neuroplasticity to promote adaptive living aligns well with the EFT model which demonstrates that secure attachment can rewire the brain, creating a new
sense of self.
I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology form the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), San Francisco, and completed an APA accredited internship at
Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, with a specialization in adult & pediatric crisis services, and acute care psychology. My postdoctoral residency was at Kaiser Permanente, Walnut Creek, in child
and family services. I recently transitioned into private practice from a full-time position at Kaiser Permanente, Pleasant Hill.
